In a game of imperfect information (as poker is often deemed) gaining an informational edge over our opponent allows us to make better decisions.
It gives us the edge of additional information. Position gives us an edge we cannot gain otherwise in poker. Position is paramount in poker, and while most have certainly heard this statement, understanding why this is a fundamental truth is key.
